A forum created

Well ladies, I created a forum for us to use

www.cheaperthantherapy.forumotion.com

The advantages that the forum allows for are:
1) Easier use for going through comments by highlighting unread posts and marking new posts
2) Search feature!!
3) More of an outline to quickly weed down to a specific book/topic

Disadvantages:
1) We all have to create an account on the forum/we already have a blogspot account created!
2) One more place to have to check (although you can have updates emailed)
3)Learning to use the forum (minor)
4) We already have this venue that S-B set up and I think its pretty good...it just became a little tedious to keep up with  new comments during Mennonite discussions

So, in the words of Rita!  Let's put it to a vote!  check out the forumotion site and then comment below for moving there or staying here.  PS. I know its a little gray and dull looking, but that is a quick fix once if we decide to go to the forum.

I clicked on it and was intimidated, but I'm a quick learner. I know nothing about forums....can we post major news about the books here and then discuss on the forum or is that a waste?

I'll wait to hear everyone's opinion but I'm good with whatever the majority decided. Thanks Kim!

I feel that we should still use this site.

The only reason why I wanted a forum was for discussion only.

I still feel like we should post discussion on the blog, but then repost them on forum to, well, discuss.

Thats just me.

Thanks a million Kim! Great job!

I just made my account and I'm browsing around. This is my first time using a forum. I like the idea of still using the blog too.

I really like the idea of a forum for our discussions. If it's like classroom discussions I've had on blackboard (or posts on pregnancy websites), the title of a post with unread comments will be in bold or something whenever we sign on. I think that will make it easier for me to keep up with what I've read (AND it keeps the comments in context so that you see them in response to things written prior). Whatever we do, I hope that more people join in next time. I know I still have a couple of Mennonite questions left to answer (one in particular that I've been avoiding), but I was sad that more people didn't join the discussion.

Mandy- I was pretty disappointed myself. I was most disappointed with myself. I didn't push myself to really think deeply at the questions.

I hope I'm not as big of a let down on the next book.

Shoot, Rita - you and CAR were the overachievers among us!!! You got the conversation ball rolling and certainly motivated me to think more deeply about the book. SO, no disappointment allowed. This book club is not the place for that. Fun times only ;-)

I like the idea of the forum...thanks, Kim! It seemed relatively user-friendly, and by that I mean I was at least able to make an account and reply to Rita's test comment!

I didn't participate in the last book/discussion, so I can't say whether the blog model works well or not. However, my vote is for any discussion to occur on EITHER the blog OR the forum since checking two places for info, thoughts, etc. might get to be a bit much.

A compromise that was mentioned previously, the blog could be where basic info is posted regarding which book and the sort of "housekeeping" things that go on in a group, and the forum could be for all the truly book-related discussion.
